The Vehicle Recyclers' Association (formerly known as the Motor Vehicle Dismantlers' Association - MVDA) was formed in 1943, and has been representing the interests of UK vehicle recyclers ever since. Our members, many of which are older than the Association itself, are spread throughout the UK - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - and were quietly going about their business of recycling motor vehicles long before the term 'circular economy' became trendy.

UPDATED ABI SALVAGE COP PUBLISHED TODAY

The Code of Practice (CoP) has been produced and supported by the ABI, with the support of a wide group of stakeholders. Expressions of interest to become a named supporter of the CoP are invited. This CoP gives guidance and clarity on the steps to be taken when categorising vehicle salvage and recovered stolen vehicles. The purpose of the CoP is to protect the public, detect and deter insurance fraud as well as other criminal activities, and to ensure transparency of vehicle history for the benefit of all stakeholders. IVR DELIVERS NATIONAL TRAINING SCHEME FOR THE VEHICLE SALVAGE & RECYCLING SECTOR

The trigger for change came when a National Occupational Standard was put in place by the IMI for the transporting of vehicles within the vehicle salvage and recycling industry but also due to vehicle recovery operators (VROs) exercising their due diligence on training, there were instances where salvage and recycling operators were unable to enter some VRO yards.
